What is one life experience you have that voters should know about?

The personal story that has deeply influenced my values and priorities occurred during my senior year at Penn State. I lost a dear friend to senseless gun violence. This tragedy not only shook me, but it personalized the deep and lasting trauma that gun violence inflicts on individuals and families. It drives my passion to address this critical issue. Through this experience, I've also learned about the importance of providing trauma-sensitive approaches that prioritize healing and support for those affected by gun violence. As a member of our community, I believe it is our responsibility to ensure that adequate resources and services are available to address the mental health and emotional needs of those impacted by trauma. This includes establishing a trauma center that offers trauma-sensitive care and support for individuals and families affected by gun violence. If elected to City Council at-large, I will work to ensure that our city's resources are allocated in a way that supports mental health and wellness. My goal is to create a community that is inclusive, safe, and promotes healing for all those affected by gun violence.

What would be your top three policy priorities in office?

I believe that the top policy priorities for Philadelphia should be based on the needs and concerns of our constituents. Based on my interactions with residents and my analysis of city data, I believe the following are the top three policy priorities:

Public safety: The issue of gun violence and crime is a major concern for our city. Therefore, I prioritize policies that promote community-based approaches to public safety, increase police accountability, and address the root causes of violence.

Economic equity: Philadelphia has economic disparities, particularly in communities of color. Therefore, I prioritize policies that promote job creation, support small businesses, and provide access to affordable housing and healthcare.

Education: The state of education in our city is a pressing concern. Therefore, I prioritize policies that increase funding for schools, support education equity, and promote student safety and wellness. I am committed to working collaboratively with my partners on City Council, city officials, community groups, and other stakeholders, to ensure that our policies are effective, equitable, and responsive to the needs of Philadelphia residents.

What sets you apart from other candidates?

My leadership approach is distinct because of my willingness to tackle difficult and challenging issues head-on. I have a fearless attitude towards addressing problems and finding solutions, even when it requires taking bold and unpopular decisions. Additionally, I possess the ability to speak truth to power and stand up for what is right, even in the face of opposition. My commitment to collaboration and consensus-building is also a defining trait of my leadership style. I recognize that the best solutions often come from working together and valuing the input of everyone involved. My inclusive approach to leadership fosters a sense of trust and respect among my team members, resulting in a more productive and positive work environment.

How do you plan to work across ideological lines to achieve shared goals?

To achieve collaboration across ideological lines, it's important to recognize and respect differences while seeking common ground. My step’s typically are: 1. Start with active listening 2. Identify shared values 3. Focus on common goals 4. Create opportunities for engagement 5. Celebrate diversity I have had some success in bringing individuals and groups with different ideologies together and worked towards common goals. The secret sauce, I have learned is to build a foundation of shared values and mutual understanding.
